Twitter Marketing Tips

Whether you are a techy or a Net novice, you’ve probably seen the ubiquitous “t” that represents the world’s fastest growing social networking site, Twitter.  If you are hesitant to thoroughly participate in Twitter, you ought to check out some of the benefits of using this exceptional social network.

Twitter has grown its customer base 60 % over the past year, has 100 million active users, generating over 1 billion tweets weekly. With these stats, it’s no surprise that Twitter could be the best and quickest place to discover what’s going on in the world.

Precisely what does this mean for your business? To begin with, should you have reasons for individuals to be engaged with your company on Twitter, they will read whatever you post.  To help you get started, I have compiled a summary of Twitter guidelines that will hopefully provide answers to some questions and may even educate you on something new about one of the world’s top social networks.

Don’t Allow the Terminology to Hold You Back

Twitter posts are called “tweets.” When someone re-posts your tweet, it is referred to as a “retweet.” A retweet is sometimes abbreviated to “RT.” Don’t allowed this to hold you back. As soon as you internalize these few fundamental principles of Twitter, you're on the right path to understanding this platform.

Hashtags Can Be Your Best Companion

Hashtags help tag your tweet so that other people can find your tweet. For instance, using a hashtag such as #SummerSpecial will help non-followers locate your site. But make sure you use these sparingly, and never include several hashtags per tweet!

Don’t Tweet Excessively or Too Little

Generally speaking, an average of one to two tweets per day is recommended. With this in mind, the volume you tweet isn’t as critical as the quality of your tweets. The aim of Twitter is to engage and retain your subscriber base, not bog them down with incessant articles.

Adding a Hyperlink to Your Tweet is Very Simple

A long URL is automatically shortened by Twitter, allowing you to include a long Web address without counting all of those characters from your 140-character limit. You can link to any promotions or media posts on your website, and don’t worry if your link is too long.

See Who Retweeted Your Tweets

This is a great way to evaluate engagement and discover some of your most devoted followers. To do this, click on the “Retweets” drop-down and select “Your Tweets, retweeted.” When you click one of the retweeted posts, you will discover which users retweeted you.

Go Mobile

There are lots of Twitter applications available to download to your mobile phone. These allow you to post from multiple locations at all times. Our suggestion: Have two Twitter apps. One for private posting and another for business tweets. There’s nothing worse than accidentally posting just how much fun you had at a birthday party to your company’s Twitter feed.

Schedule Tweets to Go Out in the Future

Even though Twitter does not let you schedule your tweets to publish at a later time, you can utilize one of the Social Networking integration tools to accomplish this. You can schedule tweets to go out at any time.

Respond to People Who Reference You in Tweets

This not only firmly facilitates brand loyalty, but it’s also a nice way to demonstrate that you are an individual.

If you’ve been steering clear of Twitter all this time, possibly it’s time for you to finally give it a go. And while you’re at it, perhaps you can use it to market your company, foster customer loyalty, and increase sales.
